Kilo of Cocaine Seized by Union County Prosecutor’s Office

A joint law enforcement task force took down six individuals who were apparently involved in a major cocaine distribution organization like something out of the movie "Scarface" with Al Pacino. The task force, made up of FBI and detectives from the Union County Prosecutor's Office and Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office, found a kilo of coke from the bust - which works out to be over 2 pounds. Cranford is a busy town so police can constantly on the look out for what could be considered suspicious activity. In a recent traffic stop on September 12, 2014, around 7 p.m., Detective Spencer Durkin stopped a 2001 Hyundai for alleged erratic driving on North Avenue East. Cranford Police was arrested a man from Garwood after a search of his car led to the confiscation of steroids and syringes. The man drew attention to himself by parking a van in the lot of a closed business at East South Avenue and Meeker Avenue around 6:30 p.m., according to police. Cranford police officers decided to investigate the suspicious activity, and a search of the vehicle turned up 28 syringes and two bottles of suspected steroids, according to police.
