Superior Court Judge Mark Ciarocca ended a high profile political lawsuit today when he ruled that the Berkeley Heights Police Chief, Mike Mathis would not get reinstated. The lawsuit had claimed that Mathis was forced out of office by Mayor Joe Bruno earlier this month, after he emailed the mayor announcing his intention to retire and then days later changing his mind. Cranford NJ Steroid Charges

Cranford Police was arrested a man from Garwood after a search of his car led to the confiscation of steroids and syringes. The man drew attention to himself by parking a van in the lot of a closed business at East South Avenue and Meeker Avenue around 6:30 p.m., according to police. Cranford police officers decided to investigate the suspicious activity, and a search of the vehicle turned up 28 syringes and two bottles of suspected steroids, according to police. String of Robberies Leads to Robbery Charges in Union County NJ

There has been a string of robberies throughout Union County in recent weeks. In the latest incident, two robbers hit service stations in Hillside and Union Township in a span of just six hours. In both recent attacks, the robbers wore hooded sweatshirts, one black and the other red or pink and came up behind the victims and grabbed them by the neck. Arrested at Newark Airport

Port Authority Police recently arrested two men at Newark Liberty International Airport, after TSA agents alerted police that they tried to smuggle fake driver's licenses and stolen credit cards in their luggage. The items were originally discovered by TSA agents hidden beneath a shoe in a checked bag, when they searched the bag because it triggered an alarm after being tested for explosives.
